Hibiscus (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) belongs to Malvaceae family. It is found in areas of southern and western Africa and southern and eastern Asia. Its flowers are one of the most widely used ingredients in teas. Hibiscus contains mainly organic acids and is rich in anthocyanins, polyphenols and flavonoids. It is also a natural source of vitamin C. It has a regulating effect on LDL cholesterol levels in the blood, lowers blood pressure, acts as a diuretic, anti-inflammatory, and strengthens the body’s immune system. It also supports struggles with overweight and obesity.
