Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum L.) belongs to the Papilionaceae family. It can be found in the Mediterranean Sea region, rarely in Poland. Herbal raw material of the plant are the seeds (Trigonella foenum-graecum L. semen), which are particularly rich in mucus plant substance (up to 30%), sterol saponins (including diosgenins, yamogenins, tigogenins and gitogenins), vitamins (including PP), C-flavanoids. Fenugreek seed products can be used internally in inflammation of the stomach and as a general strengthening agent.
